Trip to the ER

Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

Today started off great, which was a relief after a long, hard day of school yesterday. School went smoothly today and at 3, the weather was so nice we decided to take a family bike ride. We rode our bikes 4 miles. When we got home, the girls decided to play in the leaves. While we were outside playing, Joella decided to take a head first plunge down our cement stairs. Somehow she ended up splitting her lip. I texted the picture below to Wayne to find out if he thought I should take her to the ER. I was pretty sure I should, but knowing how long ER trips take, I didn't want to overreact to the situation. Wayne reassured me that I wasn't overreacting and that I should take her to the ER.

Thankfully I have wonderful neighbors who stepped in and helped out so that I could take Joella to the ER. Almost 3 hours, tons of tears later, we are home. We have to follow up with a plastic surgeon tomorrow. Speaking about tomorrow, it is turning out to be a busy day. Wayne has his monthly oncologist appointment in the morning, Sophia has her IEP meeting at noon, and now Joella has an appointment with a plastic surgeon, which I still have to make. I am thankful for God's strength and mercy that gets us through hard days like today and busy days like tomorrow. Please pray for Joella that her lip heals quickly and that the trauma of getting stitches doesn't linger. Please also pray for Wayne and his appointment tomorrow.

Palos is a great hospital. They gave Joella a coloring book and a bear. She loved cuddling the bear as she was waiting to have her lip fixed.

Joella was such a trooper. I told her that I would get her something special for doing so well, despite all the tears and screaming. The cutie asked for a GoGo applesauce. We stopped at CVS and bought her GoGos. When we got home, she made sure her sisters knew that they were only her GoGos. I am sure she'll sleep like a baby tonight.
