Kings and Queens

Kings and Queens by Audio Adrenaline

Little hands, shoeless feet
Lonely eyes looking back at me
Will we leave behind the innocent too brief
On their own, on the run
When their lives have only begun
These could be our daughters and our sons
And just like a drum I can hear their hearts beating
I know my God won't let them be defeated
Every child has a dream to belong and be loved

(Chorus)
Boys become kings, girls will be queens
Wrapped in Your majesty
When we love, when we love the least of these
Then they will be brave and free
Shout Your name in victory
When we love, when we love the least of these
When we love the least of these

Break our hearts once again
Help us to remember when
We were only children hoping for a friend
Won't you look around
These are the lives that the world has forgotten
Waiting for doors of our hearts and our homes to open

Chorus

If not us, who will be like Jesus
To the least of these
If not us tell me who will be like Jesus
Like Jesus to the least of these

Chorus

I heard this song on the radio recently and it made me think of the 153 million orphans around the world. It is so easy to hear a number like that and forget just how large of a number it is. I read that 81.5 million people in the US have considered or thought about adoption, but haven't taken the step to adopt. If only 1 out of 500 adults adopted, there would be no more waiting children. Many of us come up with excuses for why we shouldn't adopt...we have too many kids, kids cost too much money, how would I pay for college, I don't have enough space...the list goes on. I love reading stories of people who have stepped out in faith and adopted, even though it didn't make sense financially or logically. They felt God calling them and they stepped out in faith. I don't know about you, but my God is big enough to make all the "problems" or "fears" of adopting go away.

I love Isaiah 40! The passage speaks about the majestic nature of God and just how marvelous He is! Listen to this from Isaiah 40:12 "Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?" Does that sound like someone who can't provide money, space, or solutions if you are called to adopt?

I know I've said it before, but we are all excited about this summer and hosting P-Man from China. Yes, there will be some difficult things to figure out (he doesn't speak English, food selection, etc), but we know that God called us to take this step. I'm sure many people will think we are crazy. I mean we have six kids already, why would they want to take on more? Why? Because we are called to be the hands and feet of God to the least of these. Why not us?? I'm sure we could come up with plenty of legitimate excuses (we have six kids already and live in a "small" home, Wayne's cancer last year and the unknown future, etc). BUT, God didn't call us to live a life of luxury, relaxation, or living in the "known". None of us know how long we have here on earth and we want to live every day to the fullest serving God, trusting Him and His plans, and loving on those who matter to Him.

James 1:27 "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

Would you consider hosting, fostering, being a Safe Family, adopting, or helping others taking that step of faith? Please take time and ask God how He wants you to respond and take that leap of faith with us!
