6/12/25: Day 16 - Beijing Day 1

John 3:17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”

Today was our travel day to Beijing.

On our way to the car, the girls spotted this car in the garage. Joella posed with a strawberry in her hand. Juyi told us the car brand new is only $8000 USD. The electric cars over here are cheap. They have a Toyota that cost them $15,000USD brand new!

Our morning started out with a quick Chinese breakfast at KFC. It was a rather delicious breakfast sandwich with some hot soy milk.

First bullet train ride of the day. This train “only” went 150mph. We had to switch trains at Nanjing.

We all agree that riding trains is the way to go and America needs to get with the program! If we had a train like this, we could be in Chicago in 2 hours!!

Riding the train allowed us to see so much of China. We were able to enjoy the countryside and see all the farmers working. Suddenly, a “small” town with huge apartment buildings would pop up.

Transferring to our train to Beijing. This ride was a little bitter sweet thinking about the past time I was on the train it was to pick up DJ. Last time I went the opposite direction, so I really focused on the countryside since DJ lived with his foster family in the country outside Zibo City. I had not seen that side of Shandong before.

Everyone packs their lunches and snacks for the train ride. We bought cups of noodles for an easy lunch. The train provides boiling hot water for your food. This train was much more what Shan wanted to experience. We traveled around 200 mph

Lots of greenhouses in the countryside. They have to raise enough vegetables to feed millions of people.

When we got off the train, the first thing the kids said was, “Wow, so many people!” It felt a little stressful keeping my eyes on the kids in the crowd.

We ate dinner at a knockoff Chinese version of KFC? It had the same look, but totally different food. Instead of the colonel, they had a Chinese man’s face. The food hit the spot tonight!

I have decided that I would love to learn how to use my camera better and return to Asia to do a photo shoot to capture real life in Asia. It has been encouraging to see so many more kids and pregnant ladies in China this trip!

The whole community comes out at night. While the men smoked and chatted, the ladies danced. It was like live Just Dance.

Tomorrow morning, we will join our guide on a full day of exploring Beijing.
