Update 5/29/25: Day 2-Hong Kong Day 1

Romans 10:14 “How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?”

We started our day off by taking the subway to downtown Hong Kong. In the station, Shan found the first thing he wanted to spend money on…sushi.

We then walked to Hong Kong Park where we enjoyed a beautiful walk past waterfalls and animals, including an aviary filled with beautiful birds! The highlight was the birds landing on our fingers.

We then walked to the Peak Tram. We found Jackie Chan, who is one of our favorite actors. I think most of us watched one of the Rush Hour movies on our flight to Hong Kong.

We had noodle soup for lunch. It was delicious!

It is hard to capture the steepness of this tram ride. You have to hold on to not be thrown forward in your seat. Unfortunately, my trip up here once again was in the clouds.

our friends showed us a section that shows where the original shoreline was for Hong Kong before they have added to it. It was crazy to see how much has been added over the years.

I hope to get a better photo, but just grabbed this real quick to show that they still use bamboo for their scaffolding. So when you watch a Jackie Chan movie and see him hopping down the bamboo, it really is true and not just for the movie!

Taking the Star Ferry across Victoria Harbor. These ferries are over a hundred years old and were used by the British.

The famous Peninsula hotel

New friends for life!

We found Jackie everywhere!!

Shan and I had to take a picture where we did 8 years ago.

We are here during the Dragon Boat festival. Hopefully, Saturday morning we will go see some races. Meanwhile, we were able to enjoy some displays they have for the event. We also have walked through some huge malls!

This evening, we hopped on a bus to head back to Shatin, the area we are staying in HK. We enjoyed another great meal and the kids got their first boba drink for the trip.

We have made some new friends along the way tonight.

1) The lady who managed the boba tea shop wanted us to try egg waffles, since we never have had it. Ummm…we will be going back to try more of that deliciousness!!

2) The picture above is Sam. He graciously allowed Shan to try dorian. I have a couple videos of that hilarious interaction. Sam gave Shan a piece in exchange for him taking a video to show his daughter. I had warned Shan about the fruit, since I tried it last time. He didn’t heed the warning and ended up with an upset stomach. I think you either love or hate dorian. 🤣 He ended up in the later category.

So far, we are having an amazing time and I think we transitioned to our new time zone nicely.
