Encampment Survival

Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Last week Shan Chen and Sophia attended a Civil Air Patrol Encampment, which pretty much is a boot camp for younger kids. They survived a week of waking up around 4am to do physical training, completed the adult version obstacle course, learned leadership skills, cadence calls, flew in airplanes and Blackhawk helicopters, participated in rescue missions (including learning how to use jaws of life), took character development classes, built their confidence, and made some amazing friends. Sophia was able to encourage other girls to stay the course when they wanted to quit, and Shan Chen persevered through every challenge even with his prosthetic limb. They are my heroes and I'm so proud of them for pushing through such a difficult week.

Their graduation ceremony was amazing to watch and worth the six hour round trip drive. Shan Chen was awarded as the overall honor cadet for the encampment, as well as an award for resilience. I cannot wait to see what God has in store for these two.
