Update 6/2/25: Day 6 - Taiwan Day 1

Psalm 42:1 “As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God.”

Today was an early start since we had to take a bus to the airport and navigate the Hong Kong airport system. We have found some of the wording on the signs hilarious. You get the point they are making, but it has led to some good chuckles.

After our long flight to Hong Kong, the 1.5 hour flight was a breeze. Navigating customs in Taichung was a different story. No one told us on the plane we needed to fill out a form, so that led to delays. The flight attendants at one point walked the aisle as they talked in Mandarin, but we had no clue what that was all about…now we know! On top of that, I guess meat from other places is banned, so our chomps were confiscated. We felt my re scrutiny coming here then flying into Hong Kong. If you ever come, learn from our mistakes.

When we arrived, my friend Juyi, Jason (her son), and her husband (who we have forever nicknamed Jackie Chan), walked us to an amazing lunch/dinner. The dishes kept coming of delicious food! We were so full at the end.

Watching these guys were amazing. I have made jiaozi (dumplings) before and they take timed these guys flew!

The robot led us to our table!

The girls are getting plenty of practice with chopsticks. They are glad we have had them at home to practice! I’m proud of them for trying new foods too.

After our meal, we walked around the mall. On the top floor, they had turned it into steers in Japan and Europe.

We were able to walk off the food as we walked around Taichung. It was very beautiful, just very humid and warm.

Lots of mopeds here.

They treated us to boba tea, since r originated in Taiwan. They said this is the real stuff.

Taiwanese temple near Juyi’s house. It is interesting to see the differences and similarities to Hong Kong

Prayer Requests:

- Pray for Juyi and her family as we stay with them-that Jesus would be evident in us to them.

- Pray that a lump in my leg is just a boil and nothing else. I went to the doctor tonight with Juyi and they are treating me for that, but said if it doesn’t get better, when I get home to America to have it biopsied. So, I’m trying to stay positive and pray it’s just a boil or infection. Please pray boldly with me?
