We were blessed to be able to take a family vacation to Florida in December. It was a wonderful, relaxing time as a family. We stayed at the resort every day except the one day when we went to the beach. It was wonderful to swim for hours, play board games, and just relax as a family. It was also nice to enjoy 70 degree weather in December! It was a little strange to hear Christmas music playing as we swam in the warm water...but I could get used to it!
On our way home, we stopped for a few days in Georgia to visit our good friends, the Griffin family. We have been friends with them since our years at Moody. I'm starting to feel old when I realized we've been friends for 14 years!! We always have a great time with their family and the girls love running around in the country. We had fun baking and decorating cookies together.
After we left Georgia, we headed north to Kentucky to visit my sister and her family for Christmas. The kids love hanging out with their cousins. We all had a wonderful time together.
Making paper airplanes with Uncle Wayne
The cousins...and Mocha
Pie in the face was a popular game at Christmas!
We left Kentucky and headed home the day after Christmas. We were home for five days and then left for Texas with Wayne. Wayne had training in San Antonio and we decided to join him to escape the cold of Chicago (post to come). While we were home, a family at church did a presentation for us on the country of Egypt. It was a great evening of fellowship, delicious Egyptian desserts, and great information/artifacts from Egypt. It was another fun way to squeeze some school in on our break (we did that a lot).
Abigail, my most studious student, took notes during the class
We also managed to squeeze in a few tea parties while we were home using the girls new tea sets
Naomi made chocolate using her Christmas present - a chocolate making kit
Sophia enjoying her Christmas gift.
I'll post Trip #2 in the next few days. We are getting back into the swing of school this week.

Update on Wayne: At the end of our trip to Kentucky, Wayne started experiencing weakness on his right side and was experiencing some other changes. We were both getting worried that the cancer had returned. When I returned home, I had received a message from a page I follow about brain cancer. Someone was letting everyone know that kepra, the anti-seizure medicine Wayne is on, sucks vitamin B from your body. I realized that we had run out of Wayne's daily vitamin about six days earlier. I wondered if Wayne's symptoms were tied to this lack of vitamin B in his body. That night I gave Wayne some of the girl's chewable vitamins until I could get him more vitamins. Within 24 hours, Wayne said he noticed a difference. Wow! Thank you Lord for that "random" message on Facebook.
This Monday, the 18th, is Wayne's next MRI. Please pray for us as we get closer. We are fully trusting God, but there is always a little "scanxiety" that comes when you head in for the long day at the hospital.
