Update 12/3/24

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Life has been moving at a rapid pace and I realized I hadn’t recently updated the blog. We have so much to be thankful for this year: Wayne is still here with us despite no treatments since last November; I survived chemo and radiation (hard to believe this time last year was so difficult in so many ways); for all of our kids and the upcoming wedding; God’s daily provision in our lives and our salvation. I could go on for days about all God has done in our lives.

What a difference a year makes!

2023

2024

Update Wayne: Wayne has recovered from his falls. Although he currently has a cold, he has been doing decent. We’ve noticed a few things that seem off, but we just keep trusting Jesus with how long God has for Wayne. He’s practicing walking for the wedding. It’s going to be amazing to see him walk Abigail down the aisle. He recently received a device that will help his muscles in his right arm. It will hopefully wake up nerves and maybe give him some more functionality.

Update Rebecca: I have been feeling well. I finally graduated from PT today. I will need to keep doing some of the exercises, but he feels like I made a good recovery. I have a CT scan on Thursday. I would appreciate prayers for that. It’s always a little scary going to these tests. But once again, I know that God has numbered my days way before this.

Wayne took me to Indian for my birthday. I love spending time with him.

Our friends from Chicago, the Kohs, stopped by for a brief visit on their way home from Gatlinburg. It was fun reminiscing, especially about hilarious Wayne stories from when he was in rehab.

My dad and I have birthdays three days apart. Wayne and I took him out for lunch the other day. I love that we live so close now.

Dropping Wayne off for therapy.

Snow…boo! I’m thankful that it melts about as fast as it comes.

I still try to juice a few days a week. So far it seems to be keeping my immune system in good shape.

Micaela’s birthday is the day after mine. She invited some friends over for pizza and we also did an escape room. It was a blast working with the her friends…and we escaped!

Sophia and Shan are going to be getting their wisdom teeth out over winter break. They aren’t thrilled, but I’m sure the two of them will end up with some funny videos!

Shan promoted at CAP past week. He is now an officer. He received his plaque from a special speaker. This man is applying for NASA and if he becomes an astronaut, I told Shan that photo may be worth something some day. 🤣

Wayne working out at the gym while I took a class. He’s working hard to get stronger.

Someone took my phone and shot candid shots…so I will post them.

I love the holidays because we all slow down and play games and complete puzzles. We did three 1000 piece puzzles over the long weekend.

I’m thankful for Be-Real because we wouldn’t have had many photos from Thanksgiving otherwise. We were thrilled to have Jujube over for Thanksgiving. He is the son of my English partner from Taiwan (Juyi). It's a crazy small world because we found out he works with a friend of the girls. Lord willing, Juyi will be my translator on our trip to China in the spring.

The bride and groom! They are counting down the days.

My parents traveled to North Carolina to have Thanksgiving with my sisters. Joella and I took care of my parent's animals. While we were there, we inspected our garlic garden. My dad and I are working on propagating some garlic. He's a great teacher and I'm learning a lot.

Sophia traveled with my sister to North Carolina for Thanksgiving. She had a blast with all the family. We were disappointed we couldn't join them, but with the wedding, it was just too much.

North Carolina family Thanksgiving

I took Sophia out on her birthday date the other day. I don't know how, but we missed our individual date for her birthday, so we celebrated after I picked her up from my sister's house. Ice cream and some thrifting!

As I mentioned earlier, Lord willing, if Wayne is still doing well, Shan, Micaela, Joella, and I will be traveling to China in May. If anyone has some side jobs, please let them know. They are responsible to help raise money towards our trip. They are selling sheets ($40), pillows ($40), and throw blankets ($30) to help them reach their goal. We can have them shipped to you for an additional $10 or free delivery if you are local. If you are interested, please reach out to me for ordering information.

Prayer Requests:

- Wayne to recover from his cold and that I do not catch it.

- Rebecca’s PT scan on Thursday

- Last minute wedding preparations…we are down to 11 days!

- Naomi’s trip to Southeast Asia. I cannot wait to hear what God does in and through her.

- Mandi: a friend about to start chemo
