Update 4/14/24: Appointments and Travel

Isaiah 55:12 “For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”

Life has been chaotic and I have been very worn out and weary, but God has been good through it all. I look forward to sharing in a couple days what a blessing the trip to Florida has been to our family. This is just a quick update before I share about that Tuesday.

Our friends Suzy and Linda stopped by to visit with us on their way home from North Carolina. We had a great time with them and Micaela and Joella enjoyed going to the Ark with them.

Sophia had an orthodontist appointment Friday morning, so she joined me at Baptist for my infusion and oncology appointment. My appointments lasted a lot longer than normal. I had momentary panic when the doctor I saw, who wasn’t my normal oncologist, said I would be getting my immunotherapy and chemo. First of all, I knew we were waiting until after my petscan to make that decision, so I knew that had to be wrong. On top of that, it was too late in the day for all those treatments, not to mention that we were getting ready to leave the next day for our trip. There is no way I’d be getting chemo!

After my long day at the doctor, I almost bailed on the concert I was supposed to attend. I’m so glad I went! Jenny and I were able to enjoy a great meal at PF Chang before heading to the We the Kingdom concert. It was a great way to begin my “week off from life”.

Our first stop was to visit our friends, the Griffen family, in Georgia. It is always a fun time full of laughter and sweet fellowship. The special bonus was the girl’s new calves were delivered Sunday after church. I got to bottle feed the calf, which was amazing! If any of my local friends need help bottle feeding a calf, just let me know!

Sophia was able to get some driving hours in on our trip down to Florida. I will post about our trip in a couple days. Bottom line: the trip was much needed and resulted in some amazing family time.

Prayer Requests:

- Please pray for our trip home tomorrow.

- Please pray for my pet scan on Tuesday morning. I’m feeling a little anxious about the test. While I’m having my test, Wayne will have his first PT and speech day at Clark Regional. They are in the process of getting his speech tablet approved, which will be very helpful. Please pray that approval is finalized and that he can get the tablet as soon as possible.
