Update 7/4/25: Day 38 - Xiamen

Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

We had another laidback day with a few hours of swimming. The pool here is pretty amazing. Not only is there a really nice lap pool (50 meters long), there is another pool that has a hot tub and then random jets that massage different parts of the body. Today, Shan made friends with a couple kids at the pool. They were fascinated with his leg and had lots of questions for him. They then walked us to a local place for Shan to get some rice for dinner. The girls and I went to the store and came across a box of cereal. We decided that sounded amazing for dinner. We grabbed some fresh coconut milk and had it with cereal. A little taste of home. Although I love Chinese food, 38 days straight makes me a little tired of it. I’m dying for a huge salad! We avoid eating fresh vegetables here due to potential side effects from water. Thankfully, we can eat a lot of fruit, as long as we can peel the skin. Anyway, the three of us are counting the days until some comfort food. Shan, is trying to maximize every meal here. 🤣

The sauna here is huge and super humid hot, but also felt amazing.

We saw these lights last night in Xiamen and we decided this would suffice as our Independence Day fireworks show, even though it was just the building’s lights.

Update from Naomi in Ireland:

Naomi is enjoying her time serving in Ireland. They are preparing for camp this week.

Update Sophia:

Sophia traveled to Washington after the MRI on her knee. We had arranged for her to travel and see her grandparents a few months ago. The plan was dual purposed: to visit family and to accompany Wayne home. We flew Wayne out to Washington with Naomi when we left for China. He has spent the past five weeks with his family out west.

Naomi’s photos from Washington.

Remembering Wayne’s broken teeth. He broke his teeth the day before he flew to Washington. Thankfully, we were able to get them fixed quickly there.
