Psalm 104:33-34 "I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
May my meditation be pleasing to Him,
for I rejoice in the Lord."
Sunday: August 9th
Wayne's sister and her family arrived early Sunday morning from California Their plane landed at 1:00am, which resulted in some very tired adults and kids. Sunday was spent catching up on sleep and having a family bbq.
Joella was thrilled to have family around
Monday: August 10th
We had a low-key day on Monday preparing. We took the kids to the park for the morning. Later that afternoon one of Wayne's old co-workers from CA, who just happened to be in Chicago, came over to visit. We had a wonderful time visiting him. Once again, I forgot to take a picture.
Tuesday: August 11th
Tuesday we took a trip downtown. We decided to take Karen's family downtown on the train (for both the experience and to save time fighting traffic). We took the Metra train into Chicago from Morgan Park. Once we arrived downtown, we walked to Buckingham Fountain and headed to the new Maggy Daily Park. After visiting those two iconic locations, we headed to Millennium Park to play in the fountains and see the bean. From there we walked to the Chicago River and took an architecture/skyline tour. We picked up some Garrett Popcorn along the way-we couldn't skip that Chicago experience. The boat ride was enjoyable and the day was gorgeous. After we took the boat tour, we walked up the Magnificent Mile and visited the American Girl Store and the Lego Store. We then walked to the brown line near Moody Bible and rode it back to the LaSalle train station. It was a long, but fun filled day. (pictures are a little out of order, but you'll get the idea)
Abigail didn't want to wear a bathing suit because "she wasn't going to go in the water". She posed for a picture (below) and slipped into the fountain.
Family photo (minus Wayne who was home recovering from his round of chemo)

The Lego Store
American Girl Store - funny story. While walking around the store, Micaela kept asking where the toys were for her and Joella. She kept saying, "where are the little kid's toys?" I was trying to explain to her that this store is for all girls. She looked at my confused and kept asking me the same question. I finally realized that she didn't think this store was for her or Joella because we don't allow them to buy a doll until they are seven. In her little mind, this store was not meant for her or Joella.
