6/14/25: Day 18 - Beijing Day 3

Zechariah 10:1 “Ask rain from the Lord at the time of the spring rain-The Lord who makes the storm clouds; and He will give them showers of rain, vegetation in the fields to each man.”

We did not ask God for rain today, but we got a lot of it. We headed early to the Great Wall. The kids were really hoping to do the toboggan down from the wall, but it was closed today due to the rain. We took the gondola up instead. The change benefited me because I got to explore different parts of the wall then last time I was here.

The kids complained about all the photos we were taking at the beginning, but were thankful at the end when the clouds moved in and we couldn’t see anything.

Even the raincoats and umbrella weren’t enough to keep us dry today. We were all drenched rats by the end of the day! For some reason, blogger loaded my photos in backwards. So the beginning of our day is at the bottom. You can tell because we look dry in those photos and we are drenched in these top photos.

Trying to capture the angle of the section we went up from tower 19 to 20. I had to overcome my fear of heights to keep up with Shan and Micaela.

We called Wayne from the wall so he could experience it with us. At least he didn’t get wet.

the last few steps to tower 20 were at an 80 degree pitch

Working hard at conquering the wall! The angles were intense

Signing our names on the wall. China is smart and gives people a place to write so they don’t defame the wall.

Our guide took us to an amazing lunch after our hike.

We then traveled back to Beijing and stopped for a quick visit at the Olympic Nest and the sites of the Beijing Olympics. Micaela found these nesting dolls.

Tomorrow we have one more full day of sightseeing in Beijing and then we head to Xi’an!
