Girls' Night Out and Family Time

2 Peter 1:5-11 "For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

Wayne told the girls the other day that we are all going to work on memorizing the above passages. There is some great wisdom in those verses. Micaela and Joella worked hard this week in school. One of their projects was to bake cookies for neighbors. They had a blast!!

Update on our tomato horned worms. The two worms ended up covered in all these white larvae. We looked up on google what these things were. We found out that we had a healthy/balanced ecosystem in my tomato garden. These are actually a parasitic wasp. The worms are no longer alive because these parasites have been living off of the worm. We are keeping the science experiment to see what happens next...we'll keep you posted. *Note: the butterfly house with this experiment is no longer in my kitchen but outside...I draw the line at parasites in my house.

Naomi and Sophia working on our science experiment to grow crystals. Not sure how this one is going to end up. If you notice the windows in the back, you can see the bread still in the window. We are still waiting for mold to arrive. We will never buy the bread that I purchased for the experiment again. I don't think it is "normal" for bread to be out 3 weeks and not have mold.

On Thursday afternoon, Sophia and Grace went to a horseback class. They had each received an hour of classes for their birthday. They were able to each take a friend. It was a fun afternoon! This is a picture of Sophia and her best friend Miranda.

After riding hard for an hour, we went out for ice cream.

Thursday night the family had a wonderful treat of rice and beans. It was actually me keeping my word from Wednesday night. Wednesday I spent a long time making a nice, healthy dinner (pesto chicken, roasted sweet potatoes w/glaze, corn on the cob, carrots, and salad). Almost everyone complained about something. I told them that if I had to hear complaining about a meal, I might as well give them something to complain about. So, Thursday I made a rice and beans recipe from Africa. It actually isn't a bad meal at all, but it was a lesson I wanted everyone to think about and ponder. It was successful because no one complained about dinner again fearing I would make something like it again on Friday. *Mom wins*

Last night I was able to get away with a group of friends for a girl's night out. We went out to dinner at Sweet Tomato's and then went to see Anita Renfroe. This is the third time I have seen her perform. Every time I watch her, I am amazed at how talented she is and how much she is able to make me laugh. I haven't laughed that long and that hard in a long time.

I snapped a quick picture of her signing an autograph. I didn't want to hold the group up waiting in line to get a picture with her. Maybe next time...

My group of friends. These are some very special women in my life. I'm so thankful for each one and how they are there for me!

Here is one of my favorite clips from Anita (one that she didn't perform last night).

And this one is probably one of my other favorites. She did perform this one. This is a PSA...one that many people need to watch.

Thank you Wayne for allowing me to escape for the evening and just spend some fun time with friends!! Which is also a praise because Wayne is feeling better already from his last round of chemo. It was a hard round, but he is feeling much better now. Thank you for all the prayers! Keep them coming!!
