Update 5/21/23: Wayne

Psalm 71:17-21 “O God, from my youth You have taught me, and I still proclaim Your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim Your might to another generation, Your power to all those to come. Your righteousness, O God, reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like You? You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth You will bring me up again. You will increase my greatness and comfort me again.”

Thursday night, our family was able to witness Sophia, Shan, and Micaela’s promotion. Sophia received the Billy Mitchell Award, which is the equivalent to an Eagle Scout for Boys Scouts. She has spent hours studying leadership, aerospace, drills, and much more to reach this accomplishment.

Pinning Shan (Chief)

Family came and cheered them on!

We celebrated their promotions by eating at Chuys while waiting for CAP to end. We got the Culver’s.

Abigail made it home safely from school and the wedding she was part of in Virginia. I’m so thankful for her time at Liberty and the amazing, godly friends she has made!

Abigail was able to meet Jeremy Camp at the wedding. You’ll have to ask her about that connection, because it’s pretty amazing.

The kids have spent many hours in the pool!

We had a family movie night, which was fun for everyone.

Abigail and I went on a date today to celebrate her birthday (early) and to get my Mother’s Day gift from her from Kendra Scott.

Abigail spent her gift card she got from being a gem for Kendra Scott on me! Look at the beautiful earrings we picked out!

We cannot believe that our time in KY is coming to an end so quickly. We have tried to make the most memories we could with our kids. Unfortunately, I woke up Friday morning with a sore throat and ended up fighting a cold the past couple days. It has slowed me down. Please pray that Wayne stays well as he is supposed to start chemo and radiation on Tuesday.

We made steak for dinner tonight and invited Grace’s boyfriend over. Funny moments tonight while Wayne was praying. First, he thanked God for his last meal (he told us later he meant at home, but it was hilarious in the moment). Second, he thanked God for keeping it real and something else that we didn’t understand. All the kids, and I, lost it at this point during his prayer because we had no clue what he was talking about anymore. These are the funny moments that we try to cling to in the midst of the hard. It’s hard because we see Wayne struggling to pray and communicate clearly, but we try to find light moments to laugh in the middle of it.

Please pray as we travel back to Chicago tomorrow. We will have to pick up Wayne’s medicines and get prepared for a long three weeks of treatment. Please pray for Wayne as he will be the one enduring all of this. We think Wayne may have thrush again from the steroids he is on. Also, please pray for me to have strength and wisdom as we face each day, and for continued health.

We love and appreciate all of you!
