Update: 5/3/23

Jeremiah 31:25-26 “‘For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.’ At this I awoke and looked, and my sleep was pleasant to me.”

God truly has been carrying us and satisfying our weary souls. I’m praying for some pleasant sleep tonight since yesterday was a long day.

Wayne and I had a Telehealth appointment yesterday morning with his neuro team. They wanted to follow up since Wayne had seen them on Friday and then ended up in the ER on Saturday night. I really love Wayne’s NP! She took her time, listened, and followed through with getting us answers.

The plan is for Wayne to have a Telehealth appointment with the radiologist on Monday. We will discuss the mapping plan and if there is a lot of overlap (how much if the radiation will be zapping the same spots they did 8 years ago). This matters because it can cause worse side effects and necrosis of the brain (which would leave Wayne in a bad place). There is a lot to sort through.

Thursday, we will meet with his surgeon to have Wayne evaluated. Following this appointment, Wayne will have a follow up MRI. The NP, Dani, moved it forward since 1) we are already downtown and 2) since Wayne had had some symptoms that are concerning, they want a better view of what’s going on inside.

After the call, I made the trek down the 65 to Kentucky. You know you have been down the road a lot over the years when you have little mile markers along the way to break up the trip. I was able to stop in Indianapolis and pick up some items from a widow who lost her husband to this stupid brain cancer. What a blessing she was to pass on a wheelchair, canes, a walker, and a few other items.

We arrived back in Kentucky around 5. I told the kids we would go to the movies since it was $5 Tuesday. Naomi worked until 8, so we went to a 9pm showing of the Mario movie. We all had a blast and ate too much candy!

I am working really hard to make sure I take time for myself. Since getting home, I have already been to the gym, the sauna, went for a massage, and went out to lunch with friends. Once I drop off a car (a lemon we bought) at the repair shop, I’m going to go home and take a nap! I want to make sure that these days away are spent making memories with the kids in KY, while also making sure I’m rested for the next part of the “race” with Wayne.

Wayne goes to therapy M, T, Th. His routine is to come home and take a nap since it wears him out.

The Mario movie was amazing. Notice the extra kid in the picture? I brought Lucas, Shan and Sophia’s friend, from Chicago for a visit. They are having a blast together.

I cannot emphasize enough how much you all mean to us and how we appreciate all the love and support. I know I say that every time, but it’s because it is so true. As I told a friend, you are all like Aaron and Hur when they held up Moses’ arms (Exodus 17) in battle. Your prayers are sustaining and helping us endure.
